Hunters on black horses, black hounds, and a great stag — seen in the deer park at Peterborough in the dead of winter, heard before they were seen, gone before anyone could say what they were. The chronicler set it down as fact. This framed canvas takes that account seriously. Odin rides at the head of the Hunt — cloaked, on horseback — a goat and three black hounds pressing forward into the storm sky with him. Not myth dressed up as decoration. A documented sighting, rendered in deep storm blues and shadow greys on a matte surface that holds its mood in any light. Four frame finishes — Black, Espresso, White, Natural — each bringing a different weight to the same haunting scene.

Product features

Framed matte canvas — 18″ × 12″ horizontal format, 1.25″ canvas depth, 1.75″ frame depth

Four frame finishes: Black, Espresso, White, Natural

Greenguard Gold UL-certified latex inks — vivid, fade-resistant, safe for indoor display

Cotton-poly composite canvas on FSC-certified radiata pine — sustainably sourced

Sawtooth hanging hardware included — arrives ready to display

Production tolerance ±1/8″

Dimensions

Specification

18″ × 12″ (Horizontal)

Canvas width, in

18.00

Canvas height, in

12.00

Canvas depth, in

1.25

Frame depth, in

1.75

Care instructions

Dust gently with a clean, dry or lightly damp cloth

Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents

Keep out of direct prolonged sunlight to preserve print longevity

Frequently asked questions

What frame colours are available?
Four finishes: Black, Espresso, White, and Natural. The chronicler believed what he saw. Modern historians have linked the account to the Wild Hunt tradition — and to Odin, who in northern European mythology leads the supernatural cavalcade through storm skies with hounds and the restless dead. This canvas depicts that ride: Odin on horseback, a goat and three black hounds beside him, exactly as the Chronicle suggests.
