Lathgertha was a legendary Norse shield maiden, recorded in the Gesta Danorum — a 12th-century chronicle of Danish history — as a fierce warrior said to have fought alongside Ragnar Lothbrok and later ruled her own lands. She predates the television series by nearly a thousand years and remains one of the most compelling figures in Norse legend.
